Kishoreganj sadar upazila consists of 11 union parishads. The position of Kishoreganj sadar upazila between the 24.21 and 24.32 north latitudes and 90.42 and 90.52 east longitude. The area of the upazila is 193.73 sq km. Nandail upazila of Mymensingh district and Taraul upazila of Kishoreganj district on the north, Pakundia and Katiadi upazilas on the south, Karimganj upazila on the east and Hossainpur upazila on the west. |
Background of the upazila |
The historian Bir Barghaina is the headmaster, Ala Isha Kha, the Bengali poet's first female poet, Chandrabati, internationally renowned journalist and literary director. Chowdhury, the Chief Minister of Bangladesh, the ex-officio Bangladesh's ex-officio President, Syed Nazrul Islam, and Kishoreganj, the birthplace of many famous men and women. In the early nineteenth century Kishoreganj was named. Founded by 'Krishnadas' on the banks of river Narsunda, the 6th generation Braj Kishore progenitor Krishnadas Pramanik, the founder of the famed family. Kishoreganj, the name of the town of 'Brahmin' and 'Gonj', was founded by Brajkishore pramanik. In the search, it is known that Kishoreganj thana was established at a time of 15 years from 1845 to 1860 AD. Thus, as a Upazila in 1984, it was established. |

Kishoreganj has a glorious tradition of culture. Especially Kishoreganj is a huge collection of people's culture. Regional feminine lyrics, folklore, public belief, public works, palagan and folk literature in this upazila occupy a huge space in whole of Bangla literature. Regional folklore is one of the most popular regional folk songs in the region. |

Important Events: There is no such township in Bangladesh, where in 1971 the Pak army, the invaders, did not kill indigenous Bengalis. Looting, arson, and oppression of women were all 9 months of the occupation of occupation forces. Liberation War has contributed to the liberation war of the people who are directly and indirectly contributing to the liberation war. The best war of liberation for Bengal is the liberation war. There was a significant contribution of heroic freedom fighters and liberated people of Sadar upazila. Many ordinary people have sacrificed their lives in the war of liberation. There is a mass killing site near Barupul in Batris Manipurghat and Muksedpur under Sadar upazila. Besides, the memorial service was constructed with the funding of the district council in Bidyabhumi, at Barattala, near Khiradganj Bazar of Mahinand Union and at Bartittla in Karkshakariya Union. There are seven mass killing areas in this upazila.

However, the birthplace of the medieval early female poet, Chandrabati, in the village of Patuair of Maijkhapan Union, about 6 km away from Upazila Sadar. There are two (two) rivers in this upazila. Narsunda and Dhaleshwari River Narsunda flows through Kishoreganj city and spreads around 40 km area. Dhaleshwari river flows over this upazila. |
